What is Bio-Cellular Therapy?

Bio-cellular therapy is the process of extracting adult stem and stromal cells from Adipose tissue in the most accessible area (usually the hips or abdominal fat), and reintroduces them into areas of concern on the face or body. These cells have the unique potential to transform into multiple types of cells. After regenerating, these cells restore areas that need rejuvenation.

What does an ALMI^® procedure consist of?

The procedure is done in the office without undergoing general anesthesia. After sterilizing the harvest area, we inject lidocaine, to completely numb the site so the extraction process cannot be felt.

Utilizing a closed syringe harvesting technique, we extract minimal amounts of fat using a small cannula. We then spin the sample in a centrifuge to strain and liquefy the fat, preserving all of the pure stem cells. The area needing rejuvenation will be numbed with topical lidocaine, and then the stem cells are injected, similar to dermal filler injections. We then trace the injected areas with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), a very small amount of separated blood cells; which we will draw from you prior to the fat harvest. This ensures that the stem cells have a rich blood supply to be able to survive the grafting in the area.

What type of downtime can I expect with the ALMI procedure?

The harvest site will need a small Band-Aid only. You may have a little bruising in the area, but there is no need for a compression garment post-treatment. The area that is injected may have some bruising, although it is usually less than Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers, due to the fact that it contains growth factors and stem cells which will expedite healing in the area. You can return to your normal activities of daily living and enjoy your results immediately after treatment.
